SMRT Subsidiary Singapore Rail Engineering and Faiveley Transport Establish Joint Venture to Market and Supply Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) Services to Railway Operators in Southeast Asia

SMRT Subsidiary Singapore Rail Engineering (SRE) and Global Manufacturer and Supplier of Railway Industry Equipment, Faiveley Transport, today signed a Joint Venture (JV) agreement to market and supply Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) Services for Rolling Stock Components in Southeast Asia (excl. Thailand, Taiwan and Hong Kong).The agreement was signed by Mario Favaits, Managing Director, SRE, and Stéphane Rambaud-Measson, Chairman of the Management Board and Chief Executive Officer, Faiveley Transport in presence of Desmond Kuek, President and Group Chief Executive Officer, SMRT Corporation.

The new ompany, called Faiveley Rail Engineering Singapore Pte Ltd, will market and supply MRO Services for Brakes, Access Doors, Platform Screen Doors, Heating Ventilation and Air-Conditioning (HVAC) Systems, and Automatic Power Supply (APS) Systems. The services offered under the JV also provide prospective clients with readily available advanced logistics and warehousing services to enhance the availability of trains.

Stéphane Rambaud-Measson noted, “We are delighted to join forces with SMRT to further develop Faiveley Transport’s after sales business in South East Asia, a high growth region for transportation in the coming years. Our state-of-the-art technology will contribute to improve the efficiency of rail transportation by optimizing energy consumption and increasing reliability and availability.”

By leveraging on the expertise and knowledge we plan to extend our services to cater to the demand for MRO and logistic services beyond Singapore and into the region.”

Incorporated in June 2014 as a wholly owned subsidiary of SMRT Corporation Ltd (S53.SG), SRE offers a full suite of products, solutions and services that aims to help mass transit operators run their networks more optimally. SRE operates under the founding principle that it will only market products and solutions that are validated and used by Singapore’s leading operator, SMRT.
